Finishing up the Year-End Challenges:
1) What do you do with plastic tubes? Why, cover them with fabric and make art!
2) What do you do with unmatching fabrics? Why, weave them, paint them, stamp them with dragon flies; use it to make a silk-lined handbag.

August 2015
My piece called Autumnal Splendour is in an art show at the Coast Collective Gallery.

July 2015
A friend told me that she was going to burn all of her paintings that she didn't like anymore. So I asked her to give two of them to me. I cut them into strips and wove them together, then added some black stitching to put some definition back into the shapes of the jars. Looking forward to hearing her reaction.

May 2015
Got the news that my San Juan piece has been accepted into the Sooke Fine Art Show this year.
I volunteered to do a demonstration so I have made a banner to identify myself. Using the technique that I will demo I am making lots of bookmarks which will be sold in the gift shop.

March 2015
My donation to the Canadian Quilters' Association challenge. Each person gets the same five fabrics and we have to create a piece based on the theme "Blowing in the Wind". The large butterfly is actually made from paper, paint and beads.

February 2015
I printed the customer's photo, which she took in Scotland, on cotton (20" by 30" approx) and then I hand stitched, machine stitched and added beads for a bit of glitter. Close-up photos show the house and surrounding landscape, as well as the French knots and hand stitching of the foreground.

January 2015
My commission was to interpret a photograph of a family home into a fabric wall hanging that was given to a woman as a surprise gift. Here is what she said - I have to think she likes it!

The woman who "transposed" our home onto this piece of fabric truly has an unbelievable talent. I almost feel as if we have a bond, of sorts, in that she has totally "captured" the love I have for this "place" where we have shared sooooo many good times.
